You can access the experience of living in the mountains with the certainty that by choosing us you are acquiring a service that stands out for its excellence, safety, innovation and sustainability.
We manage the Alta Ruta to offer technical and updated information on the state of the mountain, to speed up the booking process in each hut and save you time, to keep track of you when you are en route and to be able to act in case of emergency, to reward your challenge with an exclusive gift and, above all, to make us all a group that loves and respects the mountains and the Pyrenees.
We work to make your stay in the refuges as pleasant as possible, to make you understand the difficulties of provisioning in the high mountains; the complex management of buildings isolated from the population centres, where energy is generated autonomously, does not always allow us the comfort to which we are accustomed. We believe in this project thanks to those of you who choose us to accompany you, because with your financial contribution you make La Alta Ruta possible.
We are growing little by little, learning. Thanks to those of you who hire us, we can maintain the Alta Ruta and continue to offer the whole world high quality mountain tourism in two of the most beautiful places in Europe. This fills us with joy and satisfaction.
At Alta Ruta we work to offer you the highest quality possible, taking care of every detail. We are convinced of the uniqueness of the product we offer. And to attest to its excellence, we are accompanied on this adventure by an exceptional ambassador: Alberto Iñurrategi.
AMBASSADOR ALTA RUTA
An icon of Basque mountaineering and a reference on the big mountain scene. His commitment and dedication to the world of mountaineering suffered its greatest setback in 2000, when his brother Felix disappeared during the descent of Gasherbrum II. Nevertheless, he became the youngest mountaineer to win the 14 'eight-thousanders' and, together with Jean Christophe Lafaille, the first repeat of the east face of Annapurna.
Extremely critical of the journalistic trivialisation of the world of mountaineering, Alberto has been able to transmit the value of mountaineering through carefully produced documentaries, books and slideshows that reveal his deep respect for an activity that, if misunderstood and poorly explained, hopelessly loses its value.
"I have always seen the mountains as a vital alternative, a place of expression where it is still possible to leave behind the routine of everyday life, the infernal rhythm of a life that increasingly requires us to produce in order to be. A getaway close to home is usually enough for me, a gesture of disconnection that allows me, among other things, to better appreciate my life with my family, but I recognise that the Pyrenees is an exceptional setting where I effortlessly find the exact measure of my passion for the mountains.
Here, between valleys and peaks, in the fascinating and vertical environment of the Cirque de Gavarnie, in the magic of Monte Perdido or in the imposing landscape of the Vignemale, I have been able to create or pursue challenges of different sizes, experiences on foot, on skis or climbing, and find the freedom that the obligations of my 'normal' life restrict.
The mountains are a framework for expression, for research: everyone pursues their own thing... and I hope to find a certain form of beauty, of peace, feelings that are linked to what I understand to be a passion with a capital letter, a passion made to measure for the Haute Route des Perdues".
At Alta Ruta we believe that innovation in the mountains has to go hand in hand with safety. That is why we have the most modern technology to provide real time tracking and security for all of our routes.
Yes, we have contracted the services of Racetracker, a company renowned for offering tracking, security and visibility to professional expeditions, both to adventurers of any discipline and to mountaineers on the highest peaks in the world, thanks to the GARMIN Inreach geolocation device that will be given to you at the start of the trip.
Remember to hire a professional if you are not self-employed in the mountains. No safety device can replace the work of a mountain guide.
At the Alta Ruta we are committed to sustainability and for this reason we identify with Ternua, a committed and sustainable brand that is characterised by its innovation in high-performance technical, polyvalent and sustainable mountain clothing.
Our alliance has a common and priority objective: to achieve a balance between human action and respect and quality of the environment. Together we look to the future with respect and a spirit of self-improvement.
